Tudor fever has finally reached Grasby!

This is our topic this term and we will begin by researching how the Tudor reign began. The link to the Battle of Bosworth activity is in the Tudor links section.

You now need to know more about Henry VII so here is a short film about his life - Henry VII video

I’ve added several links under the Tudors as well.

Now, impress me with some research at home. Open this link - explorers – and see if you can find out who the explorers were. Where did they go and what did they discover?

Print out the sheet and add your information to it. Remember, think about your presentation.

Athletics

Yesterday afternoon was a real show of magnificent teamwork and I feel so proud of every single member of Grasby’s athletics team. Injuries and illness were over come and every single one of you dug really deep and excelled in your events – many personal bests were achieved.
I consider this to be the best victory I have enjoyed achieving whilst being at Grasby. I hope you all feel equally proud.

Your challenge this morning is to create an information sheet offering some answers to the question above.
Working in groups, you will under take the mission and face some different challenges: time will be limited; resources may be limited; and stealth will be required.
Certain skills will be vital to ensure the mission is successful: team work; communication between the group; a good memory; skimming and scanning to find key facts of information; perseverance and endurance.

If you feel you have at least some of the necessary skills then you are ready to begin the mission. Hopefully, by the end of the mission you will have gained or improved some skills.

Greek walls

I am very impressed by the number of posts which have been made to the two walls. Just remember to write your fact in your own words – don’t just copy it. Also, your fact has to be just about Athens or Sparta, not about Ancient Greece in general.
I keep tidying the walls to make them easier to read for you.

Sometimes, a message comes up saying there is an error. Just be patient and try again. The wallwisher site is quite new and they are trying to improve it all the time.

I may post a new wall for you here over the holidays so just keep looking.

I can’t believe we only have this week then it is half term!

I have been updating the look of the blog and would like you all to add your own comments.

Make sure you tell your parents about our blog and then they can see what we are doing in class 4.

The target this week is to have written your Greek myth. I know you will all try very hard to achieve this. You are also going to complete your vase designs as well as explore life in Athens and Sparta. Are you up for the challenge?

Friday morning is be creative morning: let your imagination run wild as you create your mythical creature – the more imaginative the better!
How do we know about mythical creatures? What evidence do you think there is?
We are going to investigate some then hopefully you will be able to complete this challenge at the British Museum -click here.

Your task for the weekend is to plan a design for a Greek vase based on your myth! Are you up for it?

Your design will need to look like a rolled out vase so that all the design can be seen. An orange background is the best colour with black figures drawn on to it. When making your vase you can use paint or fineliners to add the actual detail and figures.

Hello class 4

Welcome to the start of what will be an action packed and fun-filled year in class 4 – the best class in school! Welcome as well to Mrs West who will be teaching maths and science.
I hope you have all read your Roald Dahl book and your postcard from and adventure in the holidays. Please bring them into school along with your picture of peach – either printed or on a memory stick or you can send it to your school email address. Yes, you can remember it if you think hard!
This term we are going to become experts on life in Ancient and modern Greece as well as writing our own Greek myth. As long as the weather is kind to us we will be outside for PE developing our athletic skills trying to earn a gold, silver or bronze award for our achievements. PE kits need to be in school on a Monday because you never know when an extra PE lesson may take place! Please make sure your trainers fit because you won’t perform to your best ability if they are too small.
Remember, only bring a small bag to school because space is tight in the cloakroom.
See you on Monday.
